Best Black Bass fishing locations in hot summer days?
Somewhere there, far away, among the mountain peaks of Troodos and pine trees, there is the Arminou freshwater reservoir. In the middle of summer, when the air temperature at sea level reaches 40+ degrees, you just want to climb higher into the mountains and take a little rest from the scorching sun. It may be a good opportunity to catch some Black Bass at the same time. The Arminou reservoir is ideal for this.
And it is also one of the few reservoirs where the water level is not too high now, and therefore moving along the banks is quite comfortable. At the end of June, 50% of the water was dumped into another body of water (Kuris), which is a common practice. The water level in Arminou Dam will now remain relatively stable until the next discharge, which is expected in October ahead of the new rainy season.
Which lures work best in hot weather
Fast-moving baits, such as spinnerbaits and crankbaits, produced absolutely nothing this time. Some slight changes in weather condition had an negative impact on bass activity. All fish we managed to catch this day was caught using drop-shot, with a very slow retrieve, and bites were extremely hard to detect. My fishing buddy was catching them on his favorite 4-inch slug, while I tried to experiment with different kinds of soft baits. As a result, the slug won with a crushing score of 12 to 5.
It’s been a nice outing in general. No big fish, but 17 bass, some of which was around 1kg, is not a bad result at all.
Until next time.
